While the city promoted itself as the playground for the rich and famous, it was bulldozing and burning down the homes of its Black and Brown residents. The atrocity of Section 14 is akin to the Tulsa, Oklahoma and Rosewood, Florida race massacres and the theft of Bruce’s Beach. The families of thousands of Black and brown people are finally telling their stories, and they are seeking restorative justice. I’m honored to be thier lead attorney.
